Public Announcement: The Bible, An Accurate Guide In An Uncertain World: The Bible is God痴 written Word to mankind. He used some 40 human 壮ecretaries over a period of 16 centuries to record it, but God himself actively directed the writing by his spirit. Therefore, it is inspired by God, i.e., he is its author. A large portion of the record is made up of actual pronouncements made by God whose name is, And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. (Exodus 6:3 AV), and details as to the teachings and activities of Jesus Christ, He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. (Matthew 27:43 AV). In these we find statements of God痴 requirements for his servants and what he will do to bring his grand purpose for the earth to completion. To deepen our appreciation for these things, God also preserved in the bible a record demonstrating what happens when individuals and nations listen to God and work in harmony with his purpose, as well as the outcome when they go their own way. Thus by means of this reliable historical record, God acquaints us with his dealings with mankind and thus with his own marvelous personality. A good reason for considering the Bible is that it is from God, mankind痴 Creator, 鄭ll scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 AV), shows how valuable it is. Also, The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: (Revelation 1:1 AV), 哲ow these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. 3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. (2 Samuel 23:1-3 AV), and Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say, (Isaiah 22:15 AV). Therefore, we would expect God痴 message to all of mankind to be available around the earth. The Bible, the whole or in part has been translated into some 1,800 languages. Its circulation totals in to the billions. 禅he World Book Encyclopedia: 典he Bible is the most widely read book in history. It is probably also the most influential. More copies have been distributed of the Bible than of any other book. It has also been translated more times into more languages than any other book. In fact, Bible prophecy explains the meaning of world conditions. Many world leaders acknowledge that mankind is on the brink of disaster. The Bible foretold these conditions long ago; it explains their meaning and what the outcome will be, 典his know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2 Timothy 3:1-5 AV), 鄭nd there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men痴 hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. 29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. (Luke 21:25-31 AV). It tells what we must do in order to survive the impending world destruction, with the opportunity to gain eternal life under righteous conditions here on earth, Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD担 anger. (Zephaniah 2:3 AV), And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3 AV), and The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. (Psalms 37:29 AV). The Bible enables us to understand the purpose of life. It answers such difficult questions as: Where did life come from? 敵od that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men痴 hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: (Acts 17:24-26 av). Why are we here? It is just to live a few years, get what we can out of life, and then die? 鉄o God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:27-28 AV), Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (Romans 5:12 AV), And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3 AV), But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. (Psalms 37:11 AV), and I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. (Psalms 40:8 AV). The Bible shows how we can have the very things that lovers of righteousness desire most. It tells us where to find wholesome associates who truly love one another, By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (John 13:35 AV), what can give assurance that we will have sufficient food for ourselves and our families, 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:31-33 AV), Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. (Proverbs 19:15 AV), Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. (Ephesians 4:28 AV), how we can be happy in spite of difficult conditions that surround us, 釘lessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (Psalma 1:1-2 AV), O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. (Psalms 34:8 AV), But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. (Luke 11:28 AV), I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35 AV). It explains that God痴 Kindgom, his government, will remove the present wicked system, And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. (Daniel 2:44 AV), and under its rule mankind will be able to enjoy perfect health and eternal life, 鄭nd I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Revelations 21:3-4 AV). Surely a book that is from God, that explains both the meaning of world conditions and the purpose of life, and that shows how our problems will be solved is worthy of consideration.

Public Announcement: Creation or Evolution? Why are there no exceptions to the laws of physics? Why does night follow day, the seasons follow one another, the stars and planets continue on course? Most Christians believe that the regularity, the design evident in the universe, points to God, a supreme creative Intelligence. Some scientists believe the universe is pointless, without rhyme or reason; that the human race is not the centre piece, but a freak accident, the by-product of pointless material forces in a back water of the universe. Others believe it is reasonable to believe in God the Creator, concluding from a study of the scientific evidence that a Supreme Intelligence is at work. We do not believe God is like a super clockmaker, who then wound up the universe and left it to itself. We do not believe only in a god of the gaps, whom we use when we have no scientific explanation. We see God in the laws of nature. We do not believe in God because we need to do so, nor because we prefer to believe, as we prefer spaghetti rather than roast lamb and mint sauce. God often helps us feel good, but that is not a good reason to believe Many of us believe the universe has been fine-tuned for the existence of humans, that a place for humans was built into the universe from the beginning. In fact, we believe the cosmos was made with us in mind. What evidence is there for this? An enormous number of coincidences enable human life to exist. If the earth was smaller, gravity would be too weak to retain an atmosphere. If it were much bigger there would be too much hydrogen. If we were much closer to the sun it would be too hot for liquid water; if we were much further away it would be too cold for us. Almost one hundred chemical elements occur in nature, the smallest being hydrogen, which appeared soon after the Big Bang. Nearly all the other elements were forged later when giant stars exploded. Most of the elements in our bodies were made in explosions before our sun was born. If the force holding the hydrogen nuclei together had been much weaker, the process could not have gone past hydrogen. If this force had been only a bit stronger, the stars would have burned themselves out in millions of years, not the billions of years needed to produce life. The production of life has depended on a fantastic and delicate balance of forces. If the nature of space had been slightly different the universe could have collapsed a fraction of a second after it began; or undergone such ferocious expansion that all matter, even atoms, would have been torn apart quickly. We know now that neither the earth nor the sun is the centre of the universe. Our sun is like a pebble on an immense beach. Why is the universe so large? If the universe was the size of Europe it would have lasted a few milliseconds. A universe the size of our solar system would have lasted a few hours. To claim these coincidences and many others are the product of chance is like claiming a runaway truck in a rubbish dump produced the Mona Lisa. To sum it all up (E-equals-MxC2) shows energy and matter can not be created or destroyed by any mechanism known to man and yet one or the other or both had to come in existence at sometime or nothing we now know including mankind itself would exist. Therefore, even if a Bible that tells who created all did not exist, the universe and all in it would clearly show the existence of a Creator. Public Announcement: Have you ever wondered which religion God approves? This scripture, Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Mark 7:7 AV), makes it clear he does not approve of all. It is imperative to investigate carefully to find the religion God approves as the Devil has spawn 1,000s of counterfeits. But how is one to go about this task and what standard is he/she to use? Well there are certain salient items to look for: (1) Is it largely ritualistic, a formality, or is it a way of life? God strongly disapproves of religion that is merely a formalism, 鄭nd when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. 16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; 17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. (Isaiah 1:15-17 AV). True religion upholds the Bible痴 standard of morality and clean speech instead of weakly going along with the popular trends, 釘ut fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. (Ephesians 5:3-5 AV). Its members reflect the fruits of God痴 spirit in their lives, 釘ut the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23 AV). So, those who adhere to true worship can be identified because they sincerely endeavor to apply Bible standards in their lives not only at their places of meeting, but in their family life, at their secular work, in school, and in recreation. (2) Is true faith in Jesus Christ being demonstrated? This involves appreciation of the value of the sacrifice of Jesus human life and of his position today as heavenly King, He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36 AV), 添et have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. 8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. (Psalms 2:6-8 AV). Such appreciation is shown by obeying Jesus耀haring personally and zealously in the work that he assigned to his followers. True religion has such faith that is accompanied by works, For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. (James 2:26 AV). (3) Does it make known the name of God? Jesus said in prayer to God: I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. (John 17:6 AV), He declared: Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. (Matthew 4:10 AV). And And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. (Exodus 6:3 AV). (4) On what are its teachings based? Are they from the true God, or are they largely from men? All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2 Timothy 3:16 AV), and Mark 7:7, the Scripture of the Day. For example, ask, where does the Bible teach that God is a trinity? Or that the human soul is immortal? (5) Do its members truly love one another? Jesus said: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (John 13:35 AV). Such love reaches across racial, social, and national boundaries, drawing people together in genuine brotherhood. So strong should be this love that it will set them apart as truly different. When the nations go to war, who have enough love for their fellow Christian brothers in other lands that they refuse to take up arms and kill them? That is what early Christians did. (6) Is it truly separate from the world? Jesus said that his true followers would be, If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. (John 15:19 AV). To worship God in a manner that he approves requires that we keep ourselves, Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27 AV). Can that be said of those clergy and others who lives are largely built around materialistic and fleshly desires? 鏑ove not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (1 John 2:15-17 AV). (7) Are its members active in letting others know about the Word of God and God痴 Kingdom? Jesus foretold: And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. (Matthew 24:14 AV). What religion is really proclaiming God痴 Kingdom as the only hope of mankind instead of encouraging people to look to human rulership to solve their problems? And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Matthew 10:7 AV), 鄭nd into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. 12 And when ye come into an house, salute it. 13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. (Matthew 10:11-13 AV), And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. (Acts 5:42 AV), And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, (Acts 20:20 AV).

Public Announcement: 名 前 :Laura Young E−MAIL:younglaura@bigfoot.com 電 話 : FAX : : 「Japan Thru Young Eyes」についてのご感想 I think this site is fantastic and very useful as a teaching aid in my English / Kokusai(International) Communication class, but it strikes me that your information on temperatures are a little on the conservative side - it is much hotter than 28 degrees celsius in Kansai today, and it will get hotter, believe me!!! It's even a little hotter than 14 in London (although not by much :-)) For a person coming here from Britain, North America, the bottom end of South America, New Zealand or Northern Europe, 28 would seem quite pleasant, but perhaps they would like to be forewarned about the temperatures of 35 plus, and, above all the HUMIDITY!!! Thanks, Laura Young, ALT, Toin Koko, Wakayama-ken

Seeking Information or Help: From: Steff52@aol.com Date: Thu, 28 Jun 2001 10:12:40 EDT To: setsuko@shejapan.com Subject: Re: Research On Children's Television Show's Dear Sirs: I am from the United States and doing research trying to find information on an article I read in our local newspaper approximately 6 years ago. The article stated Japan hospitals noticed a rise in treatment for children caused by the rapid movement of television shows. It seems the problem caused children to become nausea, vomiting and poor concentration due to the fast movement on the screen. The children's television show's had a lot of graphics and the children's eyes couldn't focus fast enough and made them feel sick. Is there anyway you could help me find information regarding this situation? Our article stated this would never happen in the United States. I am an adult and now find watching television commercials and shows focusing is very hard. I have tried watching children's television shows and it is extremely hard to watch. On the internet I brought up Japan Hospitals to find any that were in English. If you do not have any information, but know where I might get it, please let me know. Thank you for your time and if you need any further information please email me. Sincerely, Stephanie Watson steff52@aol.com

Seeking Information or Help: Greetings from Waihi New Zealand. My name is Lynette Steele. I am 47 years old and in my last year of study for my primary teaching degree. I am in the process of making a resource kit for Social Studies and my topic is the Japanese family. I have gathered many resource books to help 8 and 9 year old New Zealand children learn more about the Japanese family but would like to obtain a collection of colourful posters or similar for display use. I was hoping that you may be able to help me with some resources and will include my mailing address at the end of this letter. Should you be able to help me, I will be very grateful. It may also be possible for some of my students to communicate via email or as penpals, with some Japanese children. I thank you very much for your time and attention. Kindest regards, Lynette Steele. Mrs Lynette Steele 539 Trig Road North R.D. 1 Waihi New Zealand.

Seeking Information or Help: Hello this is Joan Mitchell in Island Falls, Maine. My granddaughter is studying different cultures at her school. She and I have volunteered to bring something to eat that is from a Japanese recipe. I found a recipe on your site but I don't think I could find any of the stuff that goes in them to make them. Do you have a recipe that I could use that has ingredients in it that I could find in the United States? I also know where there is an Asian restaraunt in Maine. Is their food the same as Japanese? If it is I can just go to the restaraunt and bring that food in to the school. Thanks. Joan Mitchell
