If you ever come to Japan, please visit not only large cities,
but also small local towns and take time to see them. If you take
a slow and leisurely trip, you will see and realize the true Japan.
Seishun 18 Kippu helps make such slow trip cheap and comfortable.

Ken Shellberg
Ken Shellberg is an administrator at The Ohio State University,
in Columbus, Ohio. For fun, he tends a very large garden
and occasionally takes on the role of visiting consultant
for Japan Thru Young Eyes. Unfortunately, I think, the
US has allowed its passenger railroad system to virtually
disappear over the past 50 years. For example, if I wish
to travel to Chicago, I choose between flying and driving.
There is no passenger train service to or from Columbus,
Ohio. And Columbus is not a small town. More than one million
people live in and around Columbus. So, while editing this
article, I could not help but think that it is really too
bad that the US does not have a high-quality, nation-wide,
passenger train system comparable to that of Japan. |
