昨年アメリカ・ロサンジェルス旅行に行きました。
しかしその時にこの世界遺産グランドキャニオンを見ることができなかったのです。
日程と時間の都合でこの遺産を見る観光計画は行われませんでした。大変見たかったというのがこのLA旅行の心残りなので、そこで選びました。
そして調査段階と実際に目で見たあとの感情の変化にわくわくしています。

Brief description:
Carved out by the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon
(nearly 1,500 m deep) is the most spectacular gorge in the world.
Located in the state of Arizona, it cuts across the Grand Canyon National Park.
Its horizontal strata retrace the geological history of the past 2 billion years.
There are also prehistoric traces of human adaptation to a particularly harsh environment.

①【The Grand Canyon is among the earth's greatest on-going geological spectacles.】 Its vastness is stunning, and the evidence it reveals about the earth's history is invaluable. About 65 million years ago in the earth's shifting, a huge area of land was lifted (A) above sea level, forming what is now the Colorado Plateau. For the last 5-6 million years, the Colorado River has been slowly carving its way down through the many layers of rock. The river and its tributaries, together with the erosive forces of rain, snow, heat and cold, have formed a spectacular gorge one-mile deep and at some points 18 miles across. The colorful strata of the canyon walls reveal the rock formations of the earth's evolution from nearly (B) years ago. ②【The river continues to carve into the earth's surface.】

North Rim temperatures are a few degrees (C) due to the higher elevation.

The road into the North Rim is closed from the first heavy snow

世界遺産の調査自体は、世界遺産だけあって有名なので比較的容易だと思います。
しかし、英語のウェブサイトを読むという経験はほとんどなかったので、そこで抵抗がありました。
様々な表現や見たこともない単語もあるので、難しかったです。
そして何より最も難関だったのは、文型だけあってホームページ（ウェブサイト）のプログラミングです。
マニュアルはあったとはいえ、解読不可能な専門用語にまず拒否反応がでました。
しかし、じっくりやっていると道の領域が出来るようになる喜びを感じるようになりました。
今後、自分の興味のある分野についても人に見せる目的をもったウェブサイトを作ってみようとも感じるようになりました。
最初は困難かもしれませんが、皆さんも是非チャレンジしてみて下さい。
