 Pisang Goreng is fried bananas. ["Pisang' = banana  "Goreng" = fried,] It’s a very popular dessert in malaysia. They are relatively easy to make and very good - particularly when served with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

• 4 Eggs
• 12 T Flour
• 4 Ripe bananas
• Oil for deep frying
• Cinnamon sugar

Directions

1.　Slightly beat eggs and mix with flour and half cup water.

2.　Mash bananas with fork and mix thoroughly with flour and egg mixture. Deep-fry banana and flour mixture by the tablespoonful in hot oil until golden brown.

Cultural Note

マレーシア料理の特徴 　

　マレー料理の特徴は、ココナツが使われるのと、豊富なスパイスにある。唐辛子をもとにしたチリ、カレーに使うジンタン・プティ、ウイキョウの種子ジンタン、エビを発酵させたサンバルなどが使用される。イスラム教の教義から酒と豚肉が禁止されているので、肉料理といえば鶏肉と牛肉が中心。それらの肉類もお祈りが済んだ“ハラル肉”でなければならない。また、海に囲まれているため、魚介も豊富。

マレーシアの代表料理 　

　 代表的な料理に、ナシ・ゴレンとミー・ゴレンがある。「ナシ」は米飯、「ミー」はそば、「ゴレン」は炒めるという意味で、マレー風の炒飯と焼きそば。小エビ,アミなどをつぶして発酵させたブラチャンという味噌状の調味料が使用されている。サテーという牛肉や鶏肉を串に刺して炭焼きにしたものも代表料理の一つ。ココナッツミルク、チリなどを混ぜ合わせた甘辛味のタレで食べる。レンダンという鶏肉や牛肉をチリとココナツミルクにつけて煮込んだものもある。
　ほかにも、鶏肉などを香辛料と一緒に炒めてココナツミルクで煮たクライ、辛くて酸味のある煮物のアサム・プダス、ココナツミルク,クリーム,生スパイスの煮物のレマッ、ソトというスープ、鶏肉などをチリとココナツミルクで煮込んだカレーのカリなどがある。いずれも香辛料のきいたスパイシーな料理。しかし、すべての料理が辛いわけでなく、ピーナツソースをかけて食べるサラダのジャックやガドガド、魚やエビなどの甘酸煮のアサム・マニスなどもある。
