As soon as we got off the train at Choshi station, we could smell the soy sauce. It takes 5 minutes on foot to the huge Yamasa Shoyu Factory. Although this factory has a long history, we were surprised at modern machines used there. The workers were very friendly and kind. They answered our questions kindly and gave us a bottle of soy sauce to take home. Visiting the factory to learn how soy sauce is made was very interesting. It was much easier for us to understand the large scale of the factory by visiting it instead of just looking at a pamphlet.
