At one time, each family made its own miso, but that's unusual nowadays. My mother, too, had used store-bought miso. But then once a year, she started making homemade miso with her friends. My mother is very pleased, as her homemade miso has become popular with everyone who has tried it. I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you more about it.
