Peanuts are a special product of Chiba Prefecture. My grandmother has been using those peanuts to make 'peanut miso' as a side dish or snack for many years. She taught her recipe to my mother, and my mother passed it on to me.

You can buy peanut miso at the supermarket, but sometimes it's a little too sweet. Homemade peanut miso has a flavor reminiscent of the olden days, so why not try making this recipe yourself?

Ingredients
(makes 4 servings)

Raw peanuts 200 g
Miso 70 g
Sugar 2 tbsp
Salad oil 1 tbsp

Directions

1. Heat the salad oil in a frying pan and then fry the peanuts at a high temperature.

2. When the peanuts have been thoroughly heated, add the miso and sugar and cook at a high temperature, being careful not to burn the mixture.

3. Adjust the flavor to your taste. When the peanuts have become crispy, remove the mixture from the heat and place in a dish.

4. After the peanut miso has cooled slightly, it's ready to eat.
